DESCRIPTION

American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training r.25
The course includes training on how to properly care for a child, child behavior management, leadership, business basics, and caring for common childhood emergencies such as choking and life-threatening bleeding.
Participants will also practice the following skills: diapering, feeding a baby, how to safely pick up a baby, check-call-care, life-threatening bleeding, and choking.
Successful participants receive a Babysitter’s Training certificate valid for 10 years. This course includes an eBook and a supporting Child Care app.

LENGTH

In person: 5.5 hours

INTENDED AUDIENCE

Anyone preparing for babysitting jobs or other positions that require them to supervise children in the absence of parents or guardians.

PREREQUISITES

None. There is no required age for participation; however, the recommended age is 11-15 years.

REQUIREMENTS

Participants must:

• Attend and participate in all class sessions.
• Actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during skill practices and assessment scenarios.
• Demonstrate competency in all required skills.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion, participants will be issued a digital certificate by email from the American Red Cross that does not expire.
